Oh apartment.. How I love thee.

One of the things I love love love, about our new apartment is that we are no long in "college city." Our last apartment was close to Cal State Fullerton and although it has only been 2 years since I graduated from college I already feel like grumpy grumperson the old lady on the block! Not only were our previous neighbors pot heads, they were loud and many of them had noisy pets. Our upstairs neighbors (four college guys) were considerate enough to give us their numbers "in case we needed to call and tell them to be quiet", but when they are loud constantly from 10pm to 2am..there really is no point. We just decided to give in. It wasn't that long ago when we were in college and we were loud and inconsiderate ourselves.

Our new place has a older vibe. Not old, but older. There does not seem to be many college-age students here but more young adults and young families, which is great. Another great thing is instead of being in a three story building with about 24 apartments in one building (with a hallway that reminds you of college) we are in a two story building that consists of only 8 apartments. Two apartments share one entrance way or stairway which is so nice. So we basically only have one neighbor on one side and none on the other. And we are on the top floor so no more annoys noises from college parties above us!

But nevertheless an apartment is an apartment. And even though we do not hear a lot of neighbor noise we do hear water pipes running, lawn mowers and leaf blowers blowing and all the other joys of community living. But ... When it comes down to it, I LOVE our new place. I love having an updated apartment. I love having updated fixtures, updated appliances (actually having appliances included period), water that doesn't smell, being closer to work, neighbors that are quiet and the list goes on. But mostly I love paying less for more.. Don't you?

  1. I love our apartment too. Hopefully we won't move again until we move into our first house.
